Crossing Devils Bridge is a remarkable disc of bluegrass and traditional sounding music crossed with original tunes. Owing as much to such British trad bands as Steeleye Span and Fairport Convention, Hickory Wind blend all these styles seamlessly and the results are one fine set of tunes. Aided on several cuts by Fairports Dave Mattacks, they weave such styles as the odd Irish jig with Appalachian Mountain music and original love songs to blend up a fine musical brew. Highlights include Valentine Lynn an original, Morrisons Jig and the title cut. Not necessarily bluegrass, but a seamless blend of many styles, Crossing Devils Bridge is well worth seeking out.
