A little history of the Ovation guitar line. The original Ovation plant closed in 2014, with production of its Ovation guitars moved to Korea. The Ovation guitar plant in New Hartford, CT was purchased by Chris Lombardi and set up to resume production. (July 22, 2015). Machinery, finishing equipment, and assembly lines are currently reactivated at the New Hartford, Connecticut plant, the home of Ovation production for almost four decades. CEO Chris Lombardi, who acquired Ovation, said, A U.S. production site is critical for maintaining the integrity of the Ovation brand, and it contributes to the sale of the imported Ovation product as well.
Ovations New Hartford plant was shuttered in April 2014, after the then management made a strategic decision to focus resources on Fender-branded products and divest its KMC Music subsidiary. When Chris Lombardi completed the acquisition on the eve of the 2015 NAMM show, Lombardi confessed that he was unsure of how exactly to proceed with the Ovation line. As he visited customers around the world, a strategy began to take shape. He found there was unquestionably a strong global demand for U.S.-made Ovation guitars. Distributors in Europe and Japan were particularly interested in seeing production restored and promised large orders.
Questions about the viability of reopening the factory were quickly resolved when Lombardi made his first visit to New Hartford. He had expected to find the Ovation tooling and production equipment packed up in railroad cars, but was startled to see it carefully set up on the factory floor. A core team of four dedicated Ovation staffers had kept the equipment in place in hopes that someone would restart production. In addition, other factory staff had signaled their interest in returning to work. Lombardi explains, With an experienced staff, the equipment in place, and a strong order book, the decision was easy. Getting production back was just a question of setting up the dust collection system, hooking up electricity, and renegotiating the lease.
This Like New Ovation Eite LX 1778 Acoustic Electric w/ Deluxe Hard Shell Case was made in America in 2006. Ovations Price List of that year shows the Ovation Elite 1778 LX Mid-Depth 6-string at $1,899.00 plus the deluxe case a $170 option. This was considered a top shelf guitar outfit listing for over $2000.
This is an elegant and incredibly versatile guitar from Ovation. This model, made in 2006, the Elite 1778 LX, is part of Ovations updated and Elite line of guitars. It has a AA-solid spruce top with scalloped LX bracing, Ovations Lyrachord semi-parabolic mid depth bowled back, and a great built in Ovation pickup which makes this instrument incredibly versatile. Tonally this guitar is very loud and pronounced, with a great mid range tone to it that helps it cut through any mix and really stand out. The pickup has a great sweetness to it that is malleable to your settings and sounds but truly reflects the natural tone of the instrument. Cosmetically this guitar is in near perfect new condition with few if any signs of play and wear. Included with the guitar is the optional Deluxe Ovation hardshell case, a $170 option in 2006.
Ovation Deluxe Case Specifications: Deluxe Molded Hardshell Case MSRP $170. These Velour Interior Deluxe Molded Hardshell cases were made in the U.S. and are stronger than Ovations standard molded cases because all rivets and hardware are backed with steel washers to keep them from pulling through the ABS plastic. They have Heavy Duty latches and a handle that has been pull-tested to 500 lbs. This Deluxe case stands above the rest.
This Ovation Elite 1778LX has upgrades including the enhanced scalloped LX bracing, advanced neck system, Ovation patented original pickup and Op-Pro preamp. This is a professional high quality instrument in all respects. Made in the U.S.A. This finish is the very popular Gloss Black. Im selling it as used but youd have to look at it closely to prove it. The action is low and fast, the neck is straight, it has high quality Gold tuners, and plays like a dream. The case is in new condition also. These guitars had an MSRP of $1,899.00. My present 2017 Bluebook of Acoustic Guitars Price Guide says its worth $1,050 - 1,300 used in excellent condition....Id grade this one even higher, in Excellent Plus to Mint condition. I need to sell it to help pay for a recent expensive Martin acoustic. I was never rich enough to keep a stable of fine guitars. So when a new one comes in the house the rules say an older one has to go. $950.00 cash buys it. Super good guitar.....you wont be disappointed! It is strung up with a brand new set of Martin SP light gauge phosphor bronze strings. Of all the strings Ive tried these sound the best.
If youre looking for an incredibly reliable, flexible and solid acoustic electric guitar youd be hard pressed to find a better working instrument than this.
