1965 Ptp Hand Wired Hilgen B2501 Basso Tube Guitar Amp
It has a 12 Celestion Greenback, new tubes and output transformer.
The modes aside of the replacement transformer are as fallows.-
: Improved grounding
: boost switch that uses the second gain stage and volume from the bass side.
: Master volume prey phase inverter.
: Awesome cab recovery finish.
: And one of the pots where replaced.
: new three prong cord. The improved grounding was needed to use the third prong properly.
Master volume and boost feature where very helpful in offering more versatility with the amp.
I had considered installing a second tube at one point but I have moved on to other projects.
My tech who performed the work is a master in his field and is located in Millroy PA off the 322 exit.
I have not heard another amp that can sound like this one. Very ballsy breakup.
I have had it for about 16 years and have restored it to better shape than when it was new.
Because of its simplicity there are a lot of mods and options for an amp like this if you know how to tinker. I would be happy to provide contact info for my tech who has done the work.
Things I would have done further with the amp is maybe some tone stack shaping another tube for a gain stage and for an effects loop since this is a Class A/B amp not just a class A.
Its a beautiful peace of history with creamy tones you have to play to understand.
