This piece is 100% hand made, and hand carved having durable tongue and groove construction using centuries old, tried and tested, dovetailing and finishing by one of Hong Kongs fine furniture makers. I am redecorating and this piece has to go to a new home.

The offering here is not at all like the highly lacquered rosewood furniture offered in the very few retail outlets on Guam that sell rosewood. The wood here has been kiln dried and is in its natural state and is un-lacquered, instead it has been hand waxed. It has been very well taken care of in an air-conditioned environment for over three decades. This piece was acquired decades ago when rare rosewoods were more available, which is not the case today. The shortages of such materials prove a major problem for the collector. The rosewood offered here is an investment that will be expected to increase in value.

In compliance with the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, many leading rosewood producing countries -- notably Thailand, Myanmar and Laos -- have started to strictly prohibit the cutting down of rosewood trees (red sandalwood, Burma padauk, scented rosewood, black rosewood, Macassar ebony or Siamese senna). They have also sought to control the export trade, while proactively clamping down on rosewood smuggling. In China, the natural resources in a number of rosewood producing regions, such as Hainan, are also quickly being exhausted. As the life cycle of the rosewood tree is comparatively long, supplies are unlikely to be replenished in the short term.
