Show Pigs For Spring Shows And Replacement Gilts

Mother is a registered Duroc from Shipleys Swine Genetics. She was one of four Elite keeper gilts that were ordered in 2016 for the Schmitt Brothers Showpigs foundation herd. This is her second litter. 1st litter she produced and weaned 8 piglets. Her second litter she farrowed 14 and weaned them all. She has great mothering instincts and I am sure that these traits will be passed down to these fine gilts. The sire for this litter is Testimony from ShaffersGoldRush.com We were looking for a sire that would produce a showpig chaser boar for our herd to follow our AI program. And we got a monster in this batch. Testimony had everything we were looking for when we watched his YouTube videos. Structurally complete show pigs with a huge front and rear stance, a deep belly, and powerful muscled build. This guy had a nice pedigree that the Shaffers thought would compliment our elite keeper dam from Shipleys
Usually we sell the piglets at 6 -7 weeks of age, but we kept this herd of 14 in the nursery until this week in order to choose our boar and evaluate the gilts. These pigs have some great weight to them and have been raised on Simplot Stockman Starter from Sunnyside. They are now ready for a Grower ration.
