Vintage Sanyo 8-Track Tape Cartridge Player/Recorder (Wood Case & VUs)
The model number is RD 8020A. It dates from the mid 1970s. I am unsure of the exact year of manufacture.
It is in very good cosmetic condition and it works flawlessly. It has spent most of its life inside an entertainment cabinet and is very clean.
Some of the pictures were taken while in operation. I apologize as the needles for the VU meters became hard to read.
All of the knobs show very little wear despite their age. The cover of the wood case as well all of the sides are also in excellent condition. However, there is one blemish to note; a chip/nick to the back corner of the wood top panel which can be seen in pictures.
It works beautifully and has been well cared for. It has also been very well maintained as I own and run a Memorex head cleaner (which Id like to keep).
All functions operate smoothly and properly. All of the colored lamps for the tracks and those for the VU meters work as they should.
It is very easy to operate and sounds fantastic when paired with a vintage receiver. It has looked excellent in my living room when in use; watching the VU meters move and various colors for each track change as each song changes over and is played.
My Sanyo 8-track player/recorder features both left and right VU meters as well as both left and right microphone inputs. It has record level controls and buttons for pause, fast forward, repeat (all/one), restart.
Every single function operates perfectly, as it should. I have cleaned the pots in the past to keep operation smooth.
If sticking inside an entertainment cabinet or rack it measures approximately: 12.5L x 9.75D x 5H. It has a serial number of: 19044673.
For power supply: AC 120 Volts 60 Hz 21 Watts.
I am hoping to downsize some of my stereo components upon moving to a smaller home. In addition, due to the fact that it has not been getting as much use as it once had, I wish to place it for sale.
I shall have my 8-Track player/recorder hooked up to allow for demonstrating without a problem. If you have your own 8-track tapes and wish to bring them, feel free to.
