Winning Motherboard Combo


⭕ For sale is a combo consisting of an Asus P6T6 WS Revolution motherboard with an I7 940 CPU, a Noctua NH U212P, & 12 GBs of 1333 Mhz DDR3 RAM. This would make a great drop-in solution for someone who wants to quickly whip up a budget gaming rig. It would also be a good fit for an individual thinking about creating an inexpensive server or workstation based around the X58 chipset. $315 is what I need for the combo.

The motherboard is an Asus P6T6 WS Revolution, which is based on the X58 chipset & supports a varied range of socket 1366 Intel CPUs: from the I7 9xx series of CPUs, renowned amongst gamers for their overclocking headroom, to the Xeon X5600 series of server-class CPUs. The board currently has an I7 940 CPU.

The CPU has a Noctua NH U212P HSF mounted to it, which has enough cooling performance to allow one to overclock the I7 940 the board currently has. The HSF is also sufficiently robust enough to keep a 130W Xeon CPU cool.

The board has 12 GBs of G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 1333 Mhz RAM (3 GBs x 4). The board supports up to 24 GBs (6 DIMMs) of DDR3 2000 XMP RAM. The book says the board supports non-buffered ECC RAM when paired with certain Xeon processors.

All components originate from a machine that was in daily use up until last summer, when it was replaced by a new Skylake workstation. That machine had since seen sporadic use & was finally broken down for sale last week. This motherboard combo is in perfect working order, & the I7 940 has never been overclocked.

The I7 940 & 12 GBs of RAM would pair nicely with an inexpensive GPU. Toss in a hard drive & a PSU, & you have a gaming rig for under $500. The board supports a wide range of Intel Xeon 5600 series CPUs, so if youre not a gamer & are looking to build a server instead, you could grab a six-core Xeon from eBay for anywhere between $30 - $100 & utilize the 12 threads & additional PCIe lanes in a server or workstation configuration. The board has 6 SATA II ports & two SAS-1 ports, so there are lots of options for storage should you decide to use it as a server.

$315 is what I need for the entire combo. Sorry, not willing to separate.
