WW2 N-6 Gun Camera With Film Cartridge


⭕ WWII US Army Aircraft Gun Camera - Type N-6 Made by Bell & Howell, this is a US Army Air Corps gun camera. Type N-6. This 16mm camera would be mounted on the wings of fighter aircraft and provided a great deal of intelligence and training material. Some of the aircraft that carried this model camera included the P-38 Lightning, P-47 Thunderbolt and P-51 Mustang. The camera is missing a Frame Rate Selector knob; this would allow the film tech to select between 16, 32 or 64 frames per second when configuring the camera before a flight. The camera operated only when the guns were fired, as the film cartridge held just 50 of film. The film cartridge is embossed: This Magazine is the Property of the US Government, and reads, 16mm Magazine-Type G Loaded with:- Made in USA by Eastman Kodak Co, Rochester, NY. Patents USA 2036378, 2059834, 2105254, 2124883. Canada 1933-1936. Typically loaded with 50 of Kodak Super-XX, Blue Base Safety Film, Universal Type, Negative or Reversal. There appears to be B&W film still inside the cartridge, but its unlikely it could be developed (but you never know!). A great item for the WW2 or camera buff!
