**1950's VINTAGE BEAR ARCHERY BOW ARROW SET TARGET LEATHER QUIVER** - Collectibles - By Owner - Sale
This is a vintage 1950s Bear Archery target shooting set. I purchased this from a neighbor approximately 25 years ago. This was his personal set.
Im not sure who the maker of the bow is.(Note: I have been contacted by two separate people that have suggested this Bow was made by the Ben Pearson Co.. Im unable to 100% confirm this but thought Id put that out there as a possibility).
The only markings I could find on it were the initials of S. K. (owner?) and below that is 66 (which appears to be the bow length) and 20 and 27. Other than that, I have no info but it appears to be in great shape for its age. Strings up easily.
The leather quiver (pouch) is a bit dry as it has been in storage for decades but if desired, chances are it would likely soften up with a bit of conditioner and elbow grease. Thats merely a guess on my part but I never wanted to risk damaging it so I left it as is. I enjoy the patina. IMO the set displays great as is.
Set also includes 9 - 26 arrows that match. Another two matching 26 arrows. Another group of four 27 arrows. And lastly, another three 27 arrows with some very serious tips on them. The tips say HORNET on them.
This set also includes two forearm protectors (one with BEAR logo on it). Some type of three fingered glove with BEAR logo on it. One other unknown leather piece with two holes in it (see photo). Two bow strings in original packaging, still stapled.
There is also something called a Bullseye BOW-LOCK built by Bullseye in La Jolla, Ca. It appears to be something that helps hold the arrow before releasing it. Please see photos for a better description. Also check out the hand written note on the instructions for the Bow Lock. It has a date of 10-5-56 and apparently this bow was tested to produce 37lbs of pull with 27 arrows. Whatever that means, I havent a clue.
Also inside the pouch I found an old Band Aid tin (which held the Bow Lock, instructions and the two strings) as well as an old Turtle Food tin that contained an extra HORNET arrow head.
I purchased this set as I enjoy vintage and antique items. This has been in storage since my purchase and unfortunately I was never able to display it. Circumstances have forced me to liquidate everything that isnt vitally important so even though it pains me to sell this, I must.
