By: rhraike - I broke my collarbone and needed a way to get some miles in, but didnt want to spend much. This trainer is 1 of the most inexpensive you can find that still does a great job. The three levels of resistance are helpful when on a single-speed/fixed gear bike. I found it best to start at lightest setting on my 33 speed road bike set-up, then as I came to a brake / rest time I moved it up to next setting and again, and it is so much better than those that are of the non-adjustable trainer type. It served me well for 12 months while bones were healing, and my stamina was built back up. It saw about 28080 miles, and is now loaned to a friend with a broken elbow from a velodrome accident.

By: Cycle Store Owner Danny - This is a nice piece of equipment. Its an intermediate trainer, that is easy to use, very good instructions for set-up. Even though it is basically an easy unit to use, but does everything you expect it to do. Its very smooth and has 3 levels of adjustments. You have to make the adjustments off the bike, but if you want the remote adjuster, you can buy one for about $20-30. This trainer is easy to use, easy to set up, and as stable as any other on the market. Im putting a lot of weight on this machine and it never complains. Its one of the most reasonable trainers available, but does everything well, and will not make you wish for a more expensive model. It comes with a nice front tire block. The heavy duty skewer will last forever. Its pre-assembled so you dont have to worry about that. It has nice hard plastic feet to position it and keep it where you put it. A rubber car mat is great to place under it and catch any debris from the tires. Since I got the trainer it has worked like a charm. I dont regret this purchase since I got it 2 years ago

The company touts the Ascent Mag Trainer as being quiet. . .which I suppose is relative. Mag trainers arent as quiet as high quality fluid trainers, but they certainly arent as expensive, or as noisy as wind trainers.

The Bad
1.The Ascent Mag Trainer is not as quiet as an expensive fluid trainer (however its way quieter than most other brands). But you know what?. . .for the vast majority of cyclists, its plenty of trainer.
2.May need a bigger block for under front wheel to level the bike (this is best and you can get the ones that give you a feeling of uphill riding)
