59.7 Raleigh Competition GS 1978


⭕ 33 5/8 in. stand over.
Many bikes I procure are not rideable, this was the case here.
In 1978 This was Raleighs number 2 bike, the Professional was number 1.
Frameset is Reynolds 531.
Has the Campy Gransport group set.
Campy parts---seatpost---shifters---derailleurs---crankset---bottom bracket---hubs---pedals---headset---frame dropouts.
Brakes are Weimann 605.
Work done---degreased---washed---waxed.
Wheels trued.
Both hubs rebuilt---front received new bearings and resurfaced the cones.
Bottom bracket overhauled.
Freewheel overhauled---all bearings removed---cleaned---new grease.
Headset overhauled.
Pedals in great shape---no play---dust caps removed---full of Campy colored grease.
New bar tape---new hoods---some new cable housing---all cables pulled and lubed.
New tires---original were 700x25---now 700x28.
Chain removed---degreased---lubed---checked for stretch.
Both derailleurs removed from the frame to clean and lube---then tuned up.
Shifters removed from frame---completely taken apart and greased.
Brakes tuned up and lubed---pads sanded.
Seat post was stuck---carefully removed---lots of prayer and patience---but saved it---and lubed.
Frame tubes all looked good inside.
Not a museum piece, but a daily rider.
