Rebuilt Stock Turnkey 40hp Fresh Air VW Engine


⭕ Looking for a period correct motor for your vintage beetle? Want all the the correct period correct German parts? Does the fweem of a stock 40hp make you smile? Check this one out.

We have a freshly rebuilt VW 40hp engine. All original German parts where possible. All parts pictured included. This motor has been tested and tuned for over 3 hours on our stand.

New german cam and lifters
New german pistons and barrels
Reconditioned heads with new valves and guides
Resurfaced flywheel
Stock original distibutor
Working thermostat and cooling ring
Reconditioned OG heater boxes
New muffler from Wolfsburg West
Carb refurbished German pict 28
German reconditioned fuel pump
Line bore 65.5 mm
Thrust 21mm
Crank 1st under .25mm under
Mains 40mm
All rotating assemblies balanced to within 1 gram
Combustion chambers all to balanced within .5 cc

We did the best we could to find all the correct parts for the most authentic 40hp engine we could build. We however used aluminum reusable pushrod tubes for ease of maintenance.

About us: My name is Paul and my partner is Leo. Ive worked on VWs for 15 years and Leo is a retired tool and die machinist with over 50 years VW experience. While rebuilding the engines for our own cars we decided to assembled a spare. After seeing the how difficult it was to source all the parts for a stock 40hp we are hoping we can put our knowledge of the often overlooked engine to good use. We have many cases and parts and can assemble one that more closely matches your year and month if you ask. We can do fresh and stale air motors. We also plan to start building 36hp in the future.

We welcome prospective buyers to come and see the engine run for themselves. We will not be shipping the engine. While we will offer the engine with our support post sale, this is an as-is transaction. $2750 with buyer pickup.
