Western Union/United States Naval Observatory Time Railroad Clock - $


⭕ Old clock, it is a windup clock with a pendulum, they are self winding, it is NOT an electric clock, has 2 dry cell batteries that automatically wind the clock, each hour and the red light on the face lights up during the winding, the clock is a mechanical spring type clock, they were used in the Western Union stations, and in train stations, where the time had to be exact, the railroad time had to be exact because trains shared the same track. The clock has 2 large dry cell batteries inside that sole purpose was to wind the clock, so that it would eliminate human error if someone forgot to wind the clock, then also that the Naval Observatory would send out a signal over the western union line at precise times each and every day and the clock would automatically set itself to the correct time if it was in anyway off this kept all the railroad clocks set to the same exact time, the railroad engineer would set his pocket watch to the official western union time The clock is as it was the day they were taken down, I have not tested it, and selling as found, it is complete and still have the 2 large old batteries inside, and has the pendulum as well, this is a piece of American history for
