Vtg Pair Asian Lamps Cinnabar Lacquer Hand Carved Electric Chinese


⭕ Very good condition, large vintage pair of Asian, Chinese cinnabar hand carved lacquer electric lamps.
The lamps are of rouleau form and deeply carved in traditional style,with the principal subject, in reserve, dual village scenes with carved tendril meanders and Chrysanthemum flower heads. The Chrysanthemum, in the symbolic language of Chinese art, refers to one of the four important flower emblems signifying autumn and a contented middle age. Very high relief carving, done by a master. Unfortunately, the pieces are unsigned, but that was very common during the mid 20th century period. I They both are in beautiful condition. These vases are 16- 3/4 inches tall, (including the nicely carved wooden stands) and approx. 7 inches across the widest part. The total height are adjustable - from 30 - 35 tall.
The long history of Chinese culture has produced a great number of original and distinctive artistic styles and one of these is cinnabar lacquer ware. Quickly recognized by its distinctive red colour
and sometimes referred to as sealing wax, cinnabar has been used artistically in China for over 1000 years.
